The Latest from The Local Dish
My friend Cynthia emailed me today from Asia. I was darn excited to hear from her! You see, she lives in the Bay Area and travels to exotic places, often with her hubbie, Bert. So, we don't see much of each other. I thought our TLD fans would be interested in reading about the global local dish, this time from Taiwan, where they attended the Lotus Festival. Here's a sampling of dishes served up during their stay on the peninsula.
- Lotus nuts with lily blossoms
- Passion fruit-mango-kiwi drink
- Osmanthus and water chestnut mochi dessert
- Vinegar fruit palate cleanser (definitely a taste that keeps on cleaning!)
- Nine inch mango with magenta-colored dragon fruit
- Guavas with a crisp, sweet, apple taste
- The congee buffet was a hit (they're vegetarian), a rice porridge with additions of ginger, onions, spice flakes that you choose from a bar of all shapes and flavors.
Not one for sticky foods, I think I'll stick to reading about it!
What was your most exotic meal and where?
