S'mores are perfect for camp dessert, but sometimes you want one, well, now. When you're at home, not out in the wild. Thankfully, there's no need to deprive yourself. Just fire up the barbie, or keep it fired up from those burgers and veggies you just grilled, and you'll have s'mores in no time. Everyone loves a s'more, and grilling your dessert is a good way to keep the oven off and the house cool.
Here's how to do it:
Stuffed S'mores How-to:
|
- Get the grill to a medium-high heat
- Make your sandwich as usual: graham cracker, chocolate bar, marshmallow and any special ingredients all topped off with another graham cracker.
- Place your layered treat on a square of foil and bring up the corners and fold over to seal -- leave room for a bit of heat circulation.
- Put the foil packet directly on the grill.
- Close the lid and grill for four to five minutes.
- Unwrap, being careful not to burn yourself as the steam escapes the top
- Enjoy
Variations
Change up the classic by swapping out that Hershey's bar for high-quality local chocolate such as Theo. Experiment with different flavors that boutique chocolatiers frequently carry. Theo offers mint and cherry almond as well as over a dozen other flavors, including coffee for those of you who love your joe as much as most of us Seattleites do.

The Toppings
You can also layer in something unexpected. Try:
Shredded coconut
Banana slices
Peanut butter
Nutella
Your favorite jam or jelly
Caramel sauce
A sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg
Whatever flavor combination you choose, watch out for sticky fingers after devouring these little sandwiches of delight -- and let us know what your favorite is.
