"Don't it always seem to go/That you don't know what you've got/‘Til its gone/They paved paradise/And put up a parking lot." I don't know if the organizers SPUR PARK(ing) were inspired by the lovely Ms. Joni Mitchell, but its message sure seems fitting. The 6th annual PARK(ing) event is a worldwide celebration that temporarily transforms parking spots into sites of public activity. Reclaim some of this concrete earth with a shindig that will feature free chicken mole from La Cocina and a traveling food-related art exhibit.

Dress up (or not) and venture back into Elizabethan times, where there will be fencing, dunk tanks and even a giant Jenga game. The best part is you get to indulge in a ton of food, including turkey legs, oysters and crepes.

It's goin' down today in Berkeley's Tilden Park, where Slow Food East Bay takes over with some, duh -- slow food. A slow roasted pig serves as the event's main dish; however, brace yourself to try and share goods from the $5 Challenge, a potluck of homemade slow food. Each portion must cost no more than five bucks per person, with each dish serving 5-15 people. Guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages, utensils, chairs and blankies.
