Following the recent debut of North Berkeley’s Off the Grid, it’s time to check out their newest East Bay counterpart, Bites of Broadway. Today marks the first weekly congregation of food trucks that will gather outside Oakland Technical High School. This small though growing new collective features homegrown Oak-town vendors such as Boffo Cart, El Taco Bike, Fist of Flour, Go Streatery and Vesta Flatbread.

There’s nothing like a daytime beer buzz to carry you into the night. The Bay Area Brew Fest hits Fort Mason for the second year in a row, featuring foamy beer selections from Lagunitas, Pacific Coast, Landshark, Hoegaarden, and more. A $40 General Admission ticket gets you three hours of unlimited tastings, while for $10 more, the VIP ticket buys you an extra hour of slurring, “OK, OK – just one more, please.” And no worries – food carts Tomkat, Southern Sandwich, and Hapa Ramen will be stationed just outside the event to help soak up all that hoppy goodness.

The humble soybean finally gets its moment at the first Soy and Tofu Festival at Japantown’s Peace Plaza. Along with soy-related food vendors, the event will feature games, raffles, live music, and a tofu dessert competition. And if eating soy doesn’t make you feel good enough already, proceeds of the event will benefit Nichi Bei Weekly, a non-profit ethnic newspaper for Japanese American and Asian American communities.
