Located at Eden Valley Orchards, a historic site headquartering the nearly decade-old label, Thursday evening music has been a regular event for about ten years according to Aaron Nino, the tasting room manager for both the orchard and for Enoteca, EdenVale’s “wine library” in Ashland. Nino says they will soon expand the music series to include Fridays.

The July 8 event featured local favorite One Horse Shy, an alternative country group. The sextet provided a lively soundscape from 6 to 9 p.m. Originals like “Sons and Daughters” had the audience dancing, while a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery,” garnered a few “back-up singers.”
Guitarist and singer Cris Kelly enjoyed the ‘04 Pinot Gris, expressing a preference for white wines in the summer heat. A fan agreed, commenting on the “heavy” quality of reds in general. Indeed, the crisp Pinot Gris tasted of cool apple and pear and was a perfect foil for the sultry evening.
Attending Jazz in the Gardens costs $5, and glasses of wine run from $6 to $10. They offer beer on tap, and “light fare” such as dips, pizzas, and various platters ranging from $10 to $15.

EdenVale isn’t the only winery to blend beverages and entertainment. Most Friday evenings and occasional Saturdays will find Agate Ridge Vineyard “Rockin’ at the Ridge” with their summer concert series.
Find links to other local wineries at the Southern Oregon Winery Association. Three's nothing better than the sweet marriage of local wine and music in the summer.
