Yeah, there's duct tape on the seats and the booths have probably been there since they opened in 1955, but you don't stay in business that long without doing something right. It's all part of the ambience. The Wonder Bur Cafe in Grants Pass, Oregon has always served fresh, local food and they’ve been making their burgers the same way since they opened 56 years ago.
You can't get a better burger in my opinion... a sentiment shared by locals and Rogue River adventurers alike. Here are two quotes straight from the street:
"The burgers are the best in the valley." Butch
"I was raised in Grants Pass and my mother was a cook and waitress at the “bur” in the 70's and early 80's. We've since moved but still return once a year. My all-time favorite breakfast is minced ham and scrambled eggs, lots of food for a good price....lunch....you can’t beat the burgers, I recommend the bacon cheese. The place has not changed since I was little! Try it. I know you won't be disappointed." Scot
The burgers really are to die for. Each patty is made fresh-to-order with locally-sourced ground chuck, herbaceous sweet sauce, and fresh tomatoes and lettuce. This is literally a mouth-watering burger. It really does practically melt in your mouth. The large side of fries, made to perfection without MSG or fry salt, complement every burger to a tee. And here’s the big thing...it's only $4.25! That's a great deal for the cost-conscious eater these days. If you're nostalgic for a step back in time, head to Wonder Bur for old-fashioned service and a place that really says hole-in-the-wall...just what local hangouts can be all about.
The Wonder Bur Café is located at 116 SW “H” Street in Grants Pass, Oregon
