Seattle Recipes
On warm summer days there’s something about the frothy, creamy taste of a good float. Growing up we always used to have root beer or Coke floats, but with the broad array of sodas now available, we decided it was time to branch out. Dry Soda, made right here in Seattle, has an array of intriguing flavors, including lemon grass, rhubarb, and lavender. Any of them could make incredible floats with the right ice cream combination.
As we started dreaming about floats, we realized there was one local ingredient that couldn’t be left out of the mix: coffee. As such a beloved part of Seattle culture, we thought: why not try a coffee float? We’re happy to report both experiments—using all local ingredients like Café Umbria coffee, and scoops from Molly Moon's and Snoqualmie Ice Cream in addition to the Dry Soda—were a rousing success. So successful in fact that we couldn’t keep the recipes to ourselves. So here you have it: Seattle Ice Cream Floats, 2 ways.![]() |
Very Vanilla Float
Makes 2 floats
Ingredients
1 bottle of Vanilla Bean Dry Soda
2 scoops of Molly Moon’s Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
2 tablespoons fresh Washington blueberries
Pour ½ of soda into each of two chilled glasses (we like to use champagne flutes). Drop one scoop of ice cream gently on top of the soda in each glass, and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of blueberries on top of the ice cream in each glass. Stick in a straw and savor the sweetness!
Coconut Mocha Coffee Float
(Based on this recipe)
Makes 1 float
Ingredients
½ cup double strength Café Umbria Bizzari Coffee, brewed and hot
1 scoop of Mukilteo Mud Snoqualmie Ice Cream
1 ½ teaspoons finely chopped Theo Toasted Coconut Chocolate Bar
Directions:
Pour hot coffee into a glass or mug. Gently drop the ice cream gently on top of the coffee, then top with chopped chocolate. Allow ice cream to melt a little before sipping. Don’t stir it together. Simply sip as you normally would and with every drink you’ll enjoy the sweet, bittersweet, creamy sensation of an incredible coffee float.
