Food trucks are taking over. No longer seen as “roach coaches,” (although those are still out there), companies such as Sprinkles, Crepes Bonaparte, and Kogi Korean BBQ are taking their successful food acts and hitting the road with them, making it easier for the busy people of Orange County to grab a quick meal or snack. These food trucks offer everything from gourmet cupcakes to short rib tacos, without ever leaving your office or home. Although the fresh take on the 'meals on wheels' concept is convenient and mouthwatering, trying to find a healthy meal at one of these places will leave you mostly empty handed.

Well, all of that changed on June 5.
SeaBirds was born out of a desire for healthy, local food that was convenient and fairly priced. This Orange County-based food truck is providing an alternative to the choices that were once presented to those who want to dine on the run. As a departure from the calorific and fatty fare of other mobile meal-dealers, all of SeaBirds' ingredients are 100% plant-based and organic, resulting in high-quality and healthful food and making this vegan writer happy. Currently, they offer sandwiches, wraps, burgers, burritos and tacos, but with a menu that changes seasonally, frequent diners can expect variety.
Providing food ranging from a quick snack (such as one that can be found in one of their three “street style” tacos), SeaBirds also offers options such as The Bella, a marinated Portobella mushroom on toasted sourdough with mixed greens, caramelized onions, tomato and pesto mayo, which will leave even avid meat eaters feeling satisfied.
SeaBirds also believes in supporting the community and do so by buying from the local farmers, assuring that their products are not only healthy, but fresh.
SeaBirds will be launching this Saturday, June 5 at the Tanaka Farm in Irvine and are currently taking requests for their future route. Follow SeaBirds on Twitter (twitter.com/seabirdstruck) to find out where the truck will be!
