Does anyone know if the U-Pick Blueberry Farm on Reiten Road in Ashland is still open?

I'm looking for some info on the best place to get a hamburger in town for under $10 - preferably less than $7. Lately I've been going to Jasper's for their $5 burger basket deals...great food and a great price but there is always room for something better :).

I hear Big Al's in Ashland is great!

VagabondevaVagabondeva on Sunday, July 11 2010 13:06

Big Al's is great -try their guacamole burger and get a side of tater tots! Also, Grilla Bites in Ashland does fabulous non-meat burgers -their portobello burger is to die for.

On my first trip to Downtown Market Company this week I was really excited to see Il Fornaio pizza dough in the refrigerator case. Took some home and made THE all-time best pizza...asparagus from the farmers market, sausage, shrooms, and olive tapenade and tomato sauce on the bottom. Layered slices of mozz on top, and crowned it with grated Romano! Everyone said it was awesome! Thanks, Nora, for the inspiration!

A new, very cool, food emporium opened in Medford last week...Downtown Market Company, Nora LaBrocca's sharp remodel of a space on East Main. Olive oil by the ounce, packaged foods, great pre-made pizza crust, fresh produce, fresh cheese, 100% local breads and more! To come...outdoor/indoor cafe, cooking classes, dinner to-go! Here's their website: http://bit.ly/4Hwgu

Thanks, Nora, for kickin' it up downtown! I'm in heaven!

Looking for help on best way to freeze spinach! I've got TONS in the garden and not sure of the best way to put it up so I can use it throughout the summer in recipes.
VagabondevaVagabondeva on Sunday, July 11 2010 13:04

Hi -I don't know if it will work with spinach, but I've frozen basil in ice cubes before -just thaw those out any time you want it, and the basil tastes fresh! It might work with spinach in bigger containers... Good luck!

Congrats on the site launch TLD!! very excited to partake in this group! Do you all know about the Farm to Fork project???? check it out http://farmtoforkevents.com/
barbmageebarbmagee on Thursday, May 20 2010 07:08

Yes, I had heard about it from Kristen Lyon, the chief organizer. I love the "fork-to-farm" concept! Food and wine should be outstanding. I"m still trying to get a seat at the table, though. Are you going to one of the dinners?

This looks like it could be cool - you can grab a glass, sample local food and wineries and get in on some of the history of downtown medford all in one swoop.  If you're interested you can get a little more info here: http://www.downtownmedford.com/events/6/13/2009/event-145/
